In your opinion what pays more a full time receptionist or part-time waiter?

I am a stay at home mom trying to make some extra cash. How about a full time waiter do they make a lot more than a full time receptionist? The cost of childcare is 1000 a month I am hoping I get some money left over after childcare expenses, which job pays more?

In your opinion what pays more a full time receptionist or part-time waiter?
Probably the part time waiter at a good restaurant on a good shift. But, the downfalls are you can't bank on tips or even assume business will be good any day of the week. The receptionist is steady money with the perks of health care and possibly other benefits. Waiters don't always get health care (never for part time) Your answer to your making more money is in your question--why don't you baby sit???
Reply:Take the waitressing job and it doesn't have to be in a nice restaurant either like other people have suggested. I work in a pancake house and make $750 to $800 per week working 30 to 32 hours including my paycheck. Also I get paid over $6 hourly not $2.15. It depends on what state you live in but 7 states in the US pay the same minimum wage for tipped jobs as other jobs. For example CA $8.00 per hr + tips, Alaska $7.15 per hr + tips etc. Also, most major corporations even food service corporations offer benefits nowadays you just have to shop around. Darden restaurants (Red Lobster, Olive Garden) have excellent benefits.
Reply:I would say a Full Time waiter would get more money. Even if the actual wage is less than a receptionist, Waiters, make more money in tips.

A lot of reception jobs are minimum wage, or not much better.
Reply:A full time receptionist will have more pay than a part time waiter
Reply:Your income as a waiter will fluctuate based on the amount of tips you get each shift and the amount of those tips will vary based on the type of restaurant. Whereas a receptionist your pay will be more stable/a set amount.

If you have a certain restaurant in mind, ask some of the other servers what their tips are like to get a better idea of how much you could be bringing home.

Comparing these things will help you decide which would be better for you.
Reply:Between the two choices I would take the waiter's job. When you are home continue your education so you can better yourself and your income. You can do this online just pick a profession that challenges you and that you are interested in.
Reply:Receptionist is a guaranteed amount, wait-staff has a minimum amount received, but then you never know how much you will receive in tips.

It depends on what motivates you and what your strengths are.

It doesn't do you any good to be a server, if you are not good under pressure, or get frustrated with people's weirdness.

Though similar skills, you know how much you will make as a receptionist (FT), waiting is more of a unexpected amount.
Reply:if you,re a stay at home mother then maybe a full-time position would be better, you'll have benefits and if you worked in arestaurant you would work evenings i.e. no daycare. I'm a waitress and I usually work from 7pm to 3 or even 4am...
Reply:A receptionist is an entry level position they make anywhere between $8.00-$9.00 an hour depending on experience. A waiter depending on state makes around $2.75 an hour and the rest is made up with tips. It really depends on what you want to do and what hours your want to work.
Reply:I know a good way of earning some extra cash and you dont even have to leave the comfort of your own bed.
Reply:never rely on peoples generosity to pay your bills.
Reply:waitress. i make $500 on tip from friday to monday in tips easy, sometime more but never less
