Need your opinion about selling my photos?

I like black and white photography and so I was thinking of putting some of my 8x11 photos in frames and selling them at this festival/fair thing my town has every year. They're scenic photos. What do you think I should charge for these? How much would you pay for 1 of these?

Use your framed prints as display and sell just the prints alone (print 8.5x11 and place in a large zip lock bag). Price them at say $25.00 each for a print or any two for $30.

If you are willing to limit the production of a specific print then you can number and sign them and sell for more. It is a nice touch to sign them anyway... no need to say (c) just a signature in lower right of image or print.

This way your investment is low and you can put $ into your display frames and matts... even if it is simple B%26amp;W... you may want to use a colored mat.

Good luck.... if you are interested in selling your work you need the book "Photographer's Market 2007"... check Amazon.com

It will give you leads and instructions on how to submit to almost every one who buys or leases photographs.

Reply:How much time have you put into it? Have you taken any classes on photo? If you have put a genuine effort into your work would it make sense to sort of base your opinion on it that way? The better deal you offer the better chance you have of selling your work. If this is just a one time thing for you though I would caution you to asking too much, just because I guess.
Reply:Compare prices locally and online for the same type of photos. Consider quality, size, framing, and style. Also consider your time and cost invested. Of course you are newer and may have to sell a bit lower to compete, unless you have something very unique. But it will be worth it to get clients to start collecting
Reply:an 8X11?? well I'm not into buying artwork...because I'm pretty broke most of the time but um if it was a picture I really liked and wanted I'd pay $15...if it was in a nice frame, too. Sorry if that insults you, I'm just cheap. :)
Reply:I would say $25 to $30. You don't have a model to pay. Plus, you could buy frames in bulk for a discount. I pay about $5.00 for a good cheep frame. If they are wood, it looks good.
