What is everyone's opinion on the FREE newspapers these days?

We now have Metro, during the morning then in the evening we have Lite and thelondonpaper. Do you prefer to read these FREE daily papers or would you still be loyal to your paid tabloids?

What is everyone's opinion on the FREE newspapers these days?
I like the metro but not the others as I can choose to pick up the metro from a box rather than having aggressive individuals dressed in purple chasing me down the street trying to force me to take a paper. I like to read a book on public transport but some of them won't stop until you take a paper.
Reply:They seem to be blowing around my street and the buses by 12pm.
Reply:I guess the free papers enable you to catch up on local news, property sales etc, and you don't have to pay for them!

But for world news/current affairs and probably more reliable news, you have to go for the paid ones, but paying for them every day gets a bit expensive - easier to watch TV! lol
Reply:the horoscopes and cartoons are always light heartening in the morning!
Reply:have both.

Metro is Ok but better coverage in daily papers
Reply:Most free newspapers are left wing and far biased and not to be taken to seriously.
Reply:I ues them to line my kitty litter trays!! I may not read them but my cats do!!!
Reply:I have never read them. I only get the evenin post once a week to look for jobs and thats it.
Reply:I still have a real fire in my living room so I find them extremely useful!
Reply:I like the free newspapers obviously the advertising pays for them, which means that the broadsheets and tabloid papers could also be a lot cheaper especially on Sundays as they also have a lot of adverts in but they have more news in, especially if you want to know about the soaps, Big Brother or the X Factor or even the Beckhams.

is that news????
Reply:More adverts than reading!
Reply:hmm, they all have the same absorbency, but hey free is better
Reply:Love The Metro and The Lite - makes my journey to and from work far less boring and it also cancels out the need to watch the news in the evening, unless there is a major event occurring.

I do, however, always buy the NOTW on a Sunday - trashy and no brain cells required - great for a Sunday morning!!!
Reply:I never buy papers so have no comparison to make, but I love the free papers. I do like the Guardian actually, but takes too long to read and don't have time during day. The free ones give a good outline of the days news that is easy to digest.
Reply:Loyal tabloids? I wouldn't be loyal to a tabloid if you paid me
Reply:I only buy papers at the weekend to get the TV magazine.

The stories are pretty much the same whatever paper you read, it's just the political agenda that changes. If you want a paper that has the same opinion as you buy it, if you don't care take the freebie.
Reply:There are to many adverts in them rather than local news that most want to read.
Reply:i read the metro but still go the shop and buy the sun

no page 3 in the metro

lol
Reply:They are far too expensive
Reply:Well, the free ones are great for finding jobs and pictures of people you know but that's about it really. I guess they're just more local. I think i'd rather read a local newspaper as it's more relevant because I live in the place it's talking about. I don't really want to hear about Iraq and Afgaistan to be fair, I get enough of that on the news.
