How much would you have to make to live comfortable in you opinion?

I mean lets be realistic I'm not talking about a million dollars, not even $500,000, I mean the average american type of pay scale

How much would you have to make to live comfortable in you opinion?
I agree with Debt Slayer. You have to make enough to be comfortable. Also, it depends on where you live. It will take a lot more money to live in San Francisco or New York City than it will in Iowa. I know you are looking for a number, so I will have to say in the two cities (and others like that) $50,000. In a slower paced place, (like the country in NC or SC) $35,000.
Reply:if you mean just stuff inside your house, i would say about 40,000$. thats if you want new furniture etc. when we moved it was about that much.
Reply:I would have to make $60,000 to live the way I wanted to. Not a big home, just roomy enough to entertain guests and a spare room for friends or family. In my area, that runs about 125K so on 60K a year it would be doable.

A nice car, nothing fancy. Maybe a Honda CR-V or something that is versitile.

Some extra cash to donate to charities and a bit for investing in a college funds for my kids (I don't have any at the moment)

I think I could do all that on 60k.
Reply:Comfort is a state of mind, not a figure...
Reply:My definition of comfort is food, clothing, and shelter. No matter where you live, you can get all of those things by simply working a minimum wage job. You need to commit to spending less than you earn.
