President Bush veto's health plan designed to government paid healtcare. Are Republicans coming home?

I'm of the opinion that Republicans will never regain power by spending tax dollars and expanding the government. Maybe this is a sign of a revival?

President Bush veto's health plan designed to government paid healtcare. Are Republicans coming home?
Hope so. President Bush had previously proposed a modest expansion in the program, which worried me a little. After all, with such miserable enrollment rates from those who actually need the program, it makes much more sense to try and find those who already qualify for the care and get them involved.

This latest bill, however, is ridiculous. My children would be eligible for government health care, despite me being comfortably in the middle class. The danger is 2-fold: 1) vast expansion of federal expeditures, largely unneeded; and 2) business would be incentivized to do away with offering private health care for employee's children. After all, if it is "free" from the government, why should businesses continue to subsidize the cost?
Reply:Thank God we would have had socialism and why even work and screw the poor they try to steal from me.

Why should people who are worthless get medical care free? Answer socialism, then why work at all.

and they complain while I pay their way I love to knock the snout out of those worthless POS'S. The same people who would kill me for what I have and be like it is mine.

Praise God the Legislation was VETOED.
Reply:Sure. Deny healthcare to needy children and feel really good about yourselves.
Reply:Of COURSE HE VETOED IT

IT DIDN'T HAVE A DAMN THING IN IT FOR THE IRAQI's !!!!

And, you're dang straight about the Republican "coming home" !! They are coming ALL THE WAY HOME in a very short time from now ---- there will be a lot of executive mansions "for let" in DC VERY SOON !!!
Reply:Republicans have sold out America for their own gain......

Guess your part of it.......

Does anybody want to start a revolution? let's kick out both parties, and start over

U S I N G the Constitution that Bush so readily dismisses..
Reply:Perhaps Republicans can return to the principles of fiscal discipline and limited government that swept them into power in 1994, we can only hope- if they merely ape Democrats who want to systemically change our country to a Socialized Economy, they will lose.

The Founding Fathers did not set up a governmental system that provided unsustainable entitlement programs to its citizenry- it set up a Democratic Republic with limited governmental powers that were clearly delineated in our Constitution. No one is "denied" health care insurance, or for that matter any other kind of insurance- life, auto, homeowners, etc. However it is incumbent upon ourselves to pay for our own insurance, and Republicans would be wise to enact policies that allow free market forces to bring health care insurance down, rather than give everyone "free" healthcare by raising taxes on most income earners and businesses, which only serves to depress income growth and job creation by small businesses.

Going down a path that leads to socialized healthcare will only bring about longer waits for specialized appointments and procedures from health care providers- compare our system to Canada or Great Britain, and see what socialized medicine has done for the healthcare of its citizens- it is not a good record.
Reply:I wish is was a sign of revival, but it is not. We now have the tax and spend Democrats and the spend and spend Republicans. Just look at the escalation of government spending under Bush 1 %26amp; 2. It is outrageous. Even Bill Clinton could not spend as fast as Bush 2.

Unless the grassroots of the Republican Party kicks out the neo-cons (another word for liberal democrat) then their is no homecoming. I will probably vote for a third party this time around unless someone like Ron Paul get the Republican nomination (and he will not.)
Reply:The last I heard there will likely be a veto overturn. This issue is a very important one for the folks back home. The GOP who are running for reelection can't afford to buck the will of the people much longer. Once they find the guts to say NO, Mr. President I think we will see a postitive turning point for them and the nation. They must stop the obstructionism and start doing the people's will for once.
Reply:not yet, that entire program should be dismantled. of course the libs predictably accuse the pres of being cold hearted and evil.
