What do you think of this opinion?

Sports now are paid too much attention from the public. Sport personalities are much more than they deserve.

What do you think of this opinion? Why?

What do you think of this opinion?
i dont think ABOUT OPINIONS...
Reply:That pretty much goes for anyone that becomes a public figure. Athlete, actor, artist, politician, with mass media we have gotten out of control. What do you think they would get paid if the only income was from when people WENT to the ballpark or stadium or stage or studio. We have created the monster.
Reply:Honestly, I think it depends on the person. For example, people like Peyton Manning, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Kevin Garnett probably deserve the attention they get. I mean, they have a true, hard-to-achieve talent. Why shouldn't they be able to showcase it to millions? Sports really are a good thing for society. What do people often times talk about? Sports. It's a way of making a social connection. Now, there are some sports personalities who really need to grow up. People like Terrel Owens and Michael Vick are in the spotlight for too long, I agree. But for the most part, it is not harmful to society.
Reply:I think its poorly worded. Other then that its an opinion and rather vague. What do you mean much more then they deserve. If you mean money... the majority of athletes don't make quite as much as you think. Alot of players never leave minor or semi pro teams. Also there is a statistic floating around that ~60% of retired athletes declare bankruptcy. My guess is that you think they have more then they deserve which I guess is justified by the fact that many of them clearly didn't have quite what they thought they did.
Reply:Totally agree, why? when a family has Husband and wife working to make what these guys/gals get in one game, the husband and wife work for a yr, where is the justice in that. Sickens me to see Sport stars demanding millions just to be there, win or lose, spoilt brats when they lose.

why should players get millions for doing something they love, most ppl would love that, but responsibilities dictate work to support family, the rich get richer and the unfortunate struggle, and to see someone like Greg Norman spending millions on a wedding, when a kid is dead because of lack of food or water, one bowl of rice 30cents? how many kids in this world would be ok if the wealth was shared, not spent on someone to play golf tennis etc
Reply:Sport personalities should be appreciated for the rest of their life not only on the moment. They are representing our countries in the world. They should be encouraged to take scholarship during sport in order to be placed in a respectable job after they are retiring. Unfortunately they are rejected as soon as they finish their career in sport, and most of them does not have a profession.
