What is YOUR opinion on lowering gas prices by finding more oil on American soil?

Do you think spending the money looking for oil in America is going to be better than paying over 3.00 a gallon of gas???

I was watching the news last night and they were doing a story on fuel economy and thought I would ask for other opinions.

Personnally I think if it will help keep gas prices down in the future, then it's worth looking into!!

What is YOUR opinion on lowering gas prices by finding more oil on American soil?
We already have more than enough oil on our own land to sustain us for a loooooooooooooong time. We're just not using it.
Reply:We have to save ours, and use up all the stuff over seas first
Reply:Trust me we know where all the oil is in American territory.

We have known for about 20 years how much we have left.

The fact is even if we started full scale pumping now it would not be enough to meet demand, and the supply would decline shortly after.

What we need is to cut down on our consumption of petroleum products, and find energy alternatives.

China recently passed Japan as the second biggest consumer of oil (after us) India is not far behind.

If we dont change where we get our energy from expect $5 a gallon in the next seven years.
Reply:The price of gas isn't going to matter much to us in the upcoming months.

You need a job, and a car, to buy gas and I have a feeling many of us won't have either anymore.

As for your question, the environmentalists won't let us increase it here.
Reply:Most of the reserves found locally are either of a poor quality or were set aside because it was not technologically feasible to extract. If the quality is above par, if the technology has improved, it should be considered, yes, but only in conjunction with the expansion of alternative energy sources. To continue to rely wholeheartedly on the energy source of the past is foolhardy. The time for reliance on fossil fuels is passing.
Reply:You'd save a lot more money and gas if we'd just insist on better fuel economy in our vehicles. And even better, why not spend that money investing in alternative fuel technology that would eliminate the need for oil from hostile countries, preserve our environment and give us a whole lot cleaner air to breathe.
Reply:I am down with the lady "Gem"...enviro-wackos with socialist agendas want to impede the US from being self-sufficient because it accelerates the slide into global oblivion.
