No. They don't advance our society in any way and they recieve all the money. What about firemen they save lives every day. What about teachers, they are what get anyone anywhere.





My third grade teacher made less in a year than Barry Bonds does when he steps up to plate. That is just proof of how unfair this is.

No they shouldn't. They should get an education, so that if they get injured early, they have something to fall back on.

Reply:there are no longer athletes they are entertainers kids want to play spots not for the love of the game but for the love of the money it is quite sad the real athleres are the kids that wake up and go to the football or soccer feild and practice for hours. famous athlites should not get paided if they do not play well (shaq for one)
Reply:They should not because they are only representing their country for very trivial matters. Also, ambassadors don't even earn millions of dollars even if they are settling global issues. So why should athletes be paid more.
Reply:no because our society is currupt like that and we value entertainment more than education. so athletes shouldnt get paid millions of dollars, its the teachers and doctors and the people who actually HELP society who should make the money like cops and firefighters and stuff. we just value sports music and movies more than other things, thats why rockstars and moviestars make the most money along with sportsstars. im places in the middle east and asia, teachers and edu. are valued a lot more than entertainment, thats why chinese and japanese kids are thought of as a lot smarter than the majority of kids, but relaly its just because they value learning more than other things that we value. and we value things that dont get us thru the world. so basically athletes should not be paid millions of dollars

and i beg to differ with stephanie, most kids who grow up playing sports definitly do it for love of the game, and secondly money, but not just for money
Reply:Yes, they should. One injury and it could prevent them from ever working again. They are risking a lot and with deserve it! (there are always exceptions)*

Reply:They only have a short working life and have to put in a lot of effort to get to that level. If it was not high paid there would be no point.

If the market is willing to pay an athlete millions Then they should get the millions its up to the people that want to see the sports to decide through the market what they get paid only the athletes in the most popular sports that can charge the high ticket prices and rights to show the games on TV get payed that much. The athletes of lesser sports don't get paid that much.

Reply:no,because the average guy has to save up for a month just to go to the ball park and spend mega bucks for a dog and a beer. if you take your family, there goes a weeks vacation money. its a game and nothing more. society has turned it into what it is, which is a major event/ soap opera/ way of life/ television spectacle/ ect. i love all kinds of sports, but if i want to eat next week, i dont go to games.
Reply:Well This Depends On the manager and there contract. It not up to me or a fan because they do not pay them even a penny. Although, to answer your question they should if they are worth it if not then no.
