What is your opinion on taxes an illegal immigrants?

Do you believe illegal immigants should pay back taxes?

Do ou believe we should grant them amnesty?

(I tried to be objective in questions)

Please support opinions, and please respect others opinions. Let's not go throwing out thumbs downs or ups just because someone agrees or disagrees with you.

I believe they should pay back taxes slowly. The reason being I do not believe they deserve special recognition over my parents or any other legal immigrants when it comes to taxes. I believe if you want to play, you should be required to pay just like all other formally recognized citizens.

What is your opinion on taxes an illegal immigrants?
no i think they should be kicked out and told to come back the right way, dont cut line
Reply:Thats ignorance, not every situation is line cutting. Report Abuse

Reply:It is impossible to have illegals pay back taxes. There is no way to know what they did not pay. What are we going to do, take their word? That is the only way to do it.

No on amnesty. No reward for breaking the law.

I will never respect anyone's opinion who supports amnesty. What that would do to this country is treasonous.
Reply:No...i think they should just send them home....I guess....but then again....who is gonna pick our rotting watermelons??? I'm not going to get all sweaty hot for a lousy 5 dollars an hour either..i won't do it in air cond...not even for 8 dollars an hour..so i don't know...they are hard workers and they are hungry to work, eager, we on the other hand, are...???

NO AMNESTY....Go HOME.....I"m a Mexican American....or Hispanic...or Chicano...or what ever the hell you want to label me as...Get some high school kid to do it...or somebody really hungry...??? Maybe they should pay taxes..but no amnesty, is that possible?
Reply:Most DO pay taxes and comp that their U.S. employers deduct from the workers' pay and then pocket for themselves because they would get caught in their criminal acts of hiring undocumented foreign nationals if they turned those monies over to the proper authorities. Most U.S. businesses who hire undocumented workers are committing this felony of stealing those federal funds. This remains a racist issue as long as U.S. businesses committing these crimes are not arrested and prosecuted for these felonies.
Reply:I am not an attorney and cannot give legal advice, but since I am an income tax preparer I can relate my experiences.

Many of my clients are illegally in the United States working. To work they use a bogus SSN (social security number) that may or may not belong to someone. Generally it is not a problem for the other person unless they work under the legitimate person's name.

At work they provide the employer with a SSN and the number is accepted on good faith. Occasionally the employee presents a fake SS card. since the employers in this area need employees they generally do not verify the legitimacy of the SSN.

Just like you, at year end the employer provides him with a W-2,

If the employee completed W-4 upon hire then taxes are withheld, however, the majority declare extra dependents in order that federal and state income taxes are not withheld. Here in California the employer withholds FICA, Medicare and State Disability taxes. That money goes into the three funds.

The employee is now entitled to get a ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Id Number) by completing IRS form W-7. After submitting documents of identity (birth certificate, matricula consular, foreign driver's license, foreign vote's card, etc.) within 6-8 weeks the ITIN card arrives in the mail. With the ITIN the foreigner may file a tax return and if due a refund he/she will be entitled to that.

Many apply for immigration benefits and must demonstrate that they have complied with our tax laws. If they have not (occasionally) they may be denied the benefit.

Those aliens avoiding filing altogether are in violation of our tax laws. Many Americans and even federal officials have gone to prison for income tax evasion. Should aliens be held accountable to the same standard? Ans: YES!

To answer your question... Yes, the alien may file a tax return and pay taxes due like the rest of us. It's the law!!

The person above who answered "Taxation without representation" is absolutely right! No alien or minor (and sometimes felons or ex-felons) can vote in the United States, therefore no alien has representation.
Reply:Yawn Yawn Yawn..... Many illegal aliens do pay taxes not everyone is running accross a border to work a strawberry patch for cash..

Wake up people stop showing your ignorance....

And to chip in on the accountant post above, an illegal can use a real TIN Tax Identification Number to declare taxes.

And as an illegal alien for many years before I applied I totaly agree if you are going to be here you should act like you belong and that means pay taxes etc.

..
Reply:your right. they should pay back taxes.
Reply:get rid of them...illegal means not legal...duh..send them home
Reply:Most of them are so poor they would pay little IF ANYTHING in taxes and would just become able to get many more services we give our poor. They are not OUR poor.
Reply:I think we should get rid of both taxes and illegals
Reply:even IF u could go back and collect back taxes (assuming they stayed here long enough to pay them) which u can't cause they work "under the table"...u could NEVER get back all the money they have cost us...in terms of welfare, education 4 their kids, education that OUR kids our not getting, etc. That's not even counting the income that US citizens who have worked their azzes off in school and life to get that they don't get due to the illegals and all the other issues.
Reply:how do you expect them to pay anything when we don't even know who they are and what they make? it's illegal from the get go.

no no no.
Reply:It's taxation without representation.
