Would anyone pay to get their furniture fixed? if so please respond im really interested in every ones opinion
There are people who are immigrants and less fortunate. They'd pay small amounts for your trashed furniture and repair them, sell it after them repaint and so on. Actually that's how my grandparents made a living even till they came to America. Speaking modernly with average Americans, you won't see them buying anything but new furniture.
Reply:i would, my beds a 4 coaster bed and one of the bars are broken and ive been meaning to find someone to fix it since its no longer under warranty
Reply:Obviously, people *do* pay, or reupholstery and recaning shops wouldn't stay in business.
Reply:I do my own - I refinish, repair, reupholster, the whole bit - because you can't find well-made furniture anymore without paying a fortune. I scope out flea markets, consignment stores, etc. for my furniture and then customize it for my needs and have never been disappointed. Add reupholstery to your list of talents, and you'll have the basis for a good business - it's not as hard as it looks! I was actually thinking of making a business out of this myself, but just don't have the time or space to devote to it right now. Good luck!
Reply:I would try to find all the information I could and do it myself. It is a wonderful feeling to restore wood yourself; and I wouldn't try to repair some of the minor flaws of the wood, it gives the wood charm
Reply:it comes down to intrinsic value, market value, age, quality, type of finish!
A peice of furniture with wood veneer over particle board is NOT worth trying to refinish! Cheaper and easier to just toss it and buy new.
However, a well made piece of wood furniture is always worth the time and effort. If the furniture is antique, or pretty close to it, and it is well made, you need to take it to a professional antique furniture restorer. They can be quite expensive, so have it professionally appraised before you do this!
For every day wood furniture, that is relatively well made, and suits your needs, and has personal or sentimental value, I would refinish it.
Unfortunately, these days, we have become a society of throw aways! Furniture is built, in most cases, with a redundancy factor. Most are only supposed to last a few years. When you spend that little extra to get good quality furniture, you should do everything you can to keep it out of the dump sights!!
Reply:People Do Pay to have their furniture Repaired. It's a great way to earn a living. If you have a passion and the skill to repair fine furniture, you would never be out of work.. Have Fun
